I talk about the dude like everyone knows him (because theyβd love it, knowing him rules) but JIC: the βDavidβ in question is David Cole, who runs design at the totally insanely amazing Castle (castle.xyz) and can be found at davidcole.me, as well as writing with me on Sucks to Suck!
Thanks for having me on man!!! This was a total blast.
In the social graph of substack, Mills has to be this strange node that touches every community. Even if he has weird dark moments where he secretly hates everything and everyone (I hold onto this hope just so I donβt feel so badly about myself) the mere fact he is simply able to present with such enthusiasm every day for so many people is pretty incredible.
I decided to take a feeling of honor from the βcrazy but rightβ counterculture discussion as this place has let me find a very weird niche of crypto bros and church ladies to write for.
Love to hear about another crypto dualist, where you just want to have intense nine hour conversations about the nature of the self.
Had all kinds of thoughts about AI, which in its present form I think of as βthought crystals.β
This conversation was everything I come here for, which is a bunch of ideas being talked about earnestly by adults that I desperately wish I had more time to respond to, and where I can plausibly imagine other people will want to engage with my responses.
This feels like the blogosphere in 2007 before social media.
What a fascinating guy! A fine mind. Just a few minutes after listening to him, I subscribed to his Substack. I checked twice to be sure I indeed subscribed. Lol. Great feature, CB. (I can see a future of livestreaming for Substackers. Cool engagement between writers and readers, including book readings and live reviews ππ½)
It probably means I'm a jerk, but I was prepared to endure.
Great job.
No, I am talking, fun like the new fun. Human fun.
Change nothing.

Except perhaps...lol
1) faces same size
2) fix audio on both inputs
3) use time code to get lips all lined up during mixing
4) faces pointing more toward each other
- it's freaky to be looked at sitting here like this - lol

Quora made a huge impact on me. For the first time, having lived as a fool and an idiot, was a positive. It gave me this huge potential to improve Earth.
By the time greed ate the place, I was reaching a couple hundred thousand people.
I did my best to answer only questions where I had learned the hard way.
Making a positive difference at that scale is life changing.
It's funny, but Quora is for sure, how I got here.

Chris; You are way more interesting than you let on.
I hope you decide to do donations instead of paywall.

Projects I Made Up For Substack to help Free The People:
- local, self tuning, living dictionaries, with grammar or just probability
- a fully skinnable api
- i love the semantic analysis direction Mills touched on
me: "What if I wrote Finnegan's Wake?"
subai: "Still, nobody would read it, lol. But anyway, here you go: link.
- have i mentioned letting me earn pennies?
- locally run (desktop edge - phone edge soon) ai; semantic filtering - let's get this off your servers
Mills Baker, Wow! Oh, golly, I laughed and loved the exchange and the clips. So again, I love this! And saying this, and not hyperbole, as Substack has changed my life. "Culture and counter- Culture"! yeah! makes this the place to be though I don't fit the argument I thought you would end with--but connection is what you've done. but I had to stop at 40 minutes--okay you;dn't stop but posted at 50. So my change is not through money but through hope and connection and being seen (sort of but, hey, who knew?) as an author. PS: I think "my brain is growing" -- That's scary and makes me think I'm in a Monty Python episode.
Can you buy the Humane flop and turn it into The Substack Wearable AI Pin for interviews, on the go recording, notes, and ship it with custom cool designs?

I mean the *other* David, other than Bentley Hart and Deutsch. Auspicious-ass name!!!
Sorry for double captions! Will know for next time
Feature request: Fast forward or rewind using the arrow keys (in 5 second/short increments.
So many great moments in this chat that I wanted to re-listen to.
Not all heroes rip vapes. What a debut!
lmfao
I'm here simply for the alliteration: BAKER to BEST. A Double Dose of the B2B rap. This was Definitely, MILLSLICIOUS instead of MALICIOUS.
Yoooo itβs been a minute!!! Thank you, of course!
U was ON one, mayne .... a Diatribe for the Tribe. Good 2 C U breaking it down.

Just started listening!
The ability to listen to video or podcasts on the app while my phone is asleep would be a sweet feature.
You can! It's just confusing right now because there is a bug. Try backgrounding the app and *then* turning your screen off
Ohhhh hey now, that worked! Thanks Chris
Thanks for the shout out! Mills response was epic!
Hilarious Mills is Sucks to Suck
And you are Mess with the Best

We need more content like this. You guys are like the opposite of Elon Musk.
...great ish...thanks y'all...
Wow, Mills looks so much like the guy who works at the recording studio on Toast of London. Spooky!
PS this is a compliment, contra Steven Toast his sound engineers are well dressed fellows

How about The Best Is Yet To Come? Not only does it get your name in the title you also have a ready-to-use theme song.
Heβs great!
