My generation did not want to be like our parents, although certain traits or values sort of intwined into our DNA, but with the exposure to other cultures we were able to detach that weaved mesh from our DNA to become somewhat more open minded and admitting we have a long way to go even when that happens. Our children, however, were different. Perhaps their college education helped them think differently in certain areas as opposed to work experiences and military experiences leading us differently. In both circumstances the key points are that it is intricately human brain and emotion arguing with themselves internally. Values are taught and whether they are morally centered or religious or scientifically absorbed, depends upon the individual. You can’t teach emotion. So where one person allows things to “float over their head till it disappears” another will take those same things internally until they embed their ideas into the bloodstream and action becomes an absolute. I am the “older” generation now and naive, admittingly, in many things. Yet, as a valued human being I feel qualified to voice my thoughts about things I read and listen to. Hence my commenting here and on others posts. That train of thought, in my assessment, is contrary to how the younger than I generation believes is neither worthy nor valuable any longer. And that is where I feel scapegoated by a group of people who follow science into debunking us as a group, yet we have seen history, live fully in the present, and have no clue if there is even a future. If that thinking makes me obsolete and unscientific, then I will wear that badge. Sharing what history means to me and in my sight it has progressed immensely over the past 40 plus years, is something I find valuable for this generation to recognize and open their minds to admitting, with or without worrying about being like their parents or not caring at all. Thank you for allowing me to view this talk and believe it or not, I sincerely appreciate you and SubStack.
It would be cool to be able to see the live chat comments somehow.
